Who We Are
Healing in Nature
The Veterans Afield Foundation (VAF) is a faith-based, non-denominational organization that provides disabled and at-risk veterans, first responders, and Gold Star families with healing, transformational outdoor experiences.
Connecting in Fellowship
We provide a safe place for people to begin their reintegration journey. Intentionally small group sizes encourage teamwork and meaningful communication. Participants find common ground by supporting one another, sharing stories, and overcoming challenges together.
What We Provide
Purpose For the Future
We help facilitate reintegration and healing by empowering people—in a non-clinical setting—to rediscover their sense of purpose, pride, and belonging through hunting, fishing, and the power of the great outdoors.
Pride of Accomplishment
The challenge of the hunt and the life-affirming camaraderie at camp result in a deep sense of accomplishment and worth. Barriers melt away, opening the door for peace and restoration. Our goal is to grow relationships and forge support networks that pave the way for an abundant life.
How We Do It
Hunting & Fishing
Programs
VAF partners with corporate sponsors, donors, state and federal veteran’s associations, and fellow nonprofit organizations to provide safe, supportive, and authentic outdoor experiences.
Healing in Nature
VAF currently offers 10-15 trips each year. The need is far greater. This is why we’re actively seeking additional support from individual and corporate donors.
Thanks to generous grants, donations, and the support of our incredible corporate partners, all of our experiential programs are free of cost for participants. VAF provides the expertise and covers non-local transportation, equipment, adaptive equipment, license fees, food, lodging, and meat processing for each outdoor experience.
